BitchTapes: An Ode to Nina Simone

With the release of the powerfully candid Nina Simone documentary, What Happened, Miss Simone, it’s important to highlight not only Simone's private moments, thoughts, and feelings, but to recognize the impact she had on contemporary music.

The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, has paid tribute to Nina Simone with a cover. Lauryn Hill also covered one of Simone’s classic songs with her modern, earth-shattering voice. On this mix, hear those covers well as Feist's career-defining version of “Sea Lion Woman” and young, underground experimental rock band Voice Coils put their hearts in their interpretation of “Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair.” Enjoy this moving mix!

Track List:

Lauryn Hill  - Feeling Good

Meshell Ndegeocello   - Four Women
