Feminists Install Temporary Memorial to Rape Survivors on Washington Mall

The National Mall got a new memorial yesterday, if only briefly. As part of One Billion RisingBaltimore-based feminist group FORCE installed a temporary memorial recognizing survivors of sexual assault. The group greated giant letters out of a statement from a rape survivor and floated the eight-foot-tall words onto the reflecting pool in front of the Lincoln Memorial.

'I can't forget, but no one else remembers" floated on reflecting pool.

This is great - very powerful, memorable and in-your-face.

There's been a memorial to

There's been a memorial to me, for having survived 12 years of rape. The memorial doesn't help what happened, but it makes me feel less alone.

Never alone

You are never alone, there are men, women, little girls and little boys who know your pain and share it.

Yes their is men, but not

Yes their is men, but not anywheres as many as women and children. But I feel mad as Hell at the people that do this to the victims. I feel sorry for all the victims. Your right the pain never goes away. But hopefully it will make you stronger. And they put those a**holes in jail or the chair. But they need to chop or take out the sexual needs out of their bodies. The laws needs to change and get tougher. The judges needs to learn from each of them.

Rape is not about sex. It's

Rape is not about sex. It's about anger or rage , control and domination, or sadism and the desire to do harm to a victim It is an act of violence.

"Rape is not about sex"

I think sometimes it is about sex. I'm not going to argue with you and say that it's never about control or domination, but to say that it is never about sex is misleading.

"Yes their is men but"

Why do we need that "but" there? Just because there are fewer men as victims doesn't make them any less in need of our compassion than all the women and children. A victim is a victim, regardless of gender.

Don't you dare erase male

Don't you dare erase male victims of rape, just because female victims are statistically higher. It's because of people like you - <i>"yeah, but, women have it <b>so much worse!</b>"</i> - that abused boys and men are rarely ever recognized. It's because people like you, that they're told that they're lying, and told to "man up." It's people like you that tell them that their pain and suffering don't matter - only their anger does.

This monument isn't only for female victims of rape, but for ALL victims of rape.

here here

You are absolutely right. Statistically there are more women, however there such a stigma against male rape victims that many do not come forward...or if they do they are not taken seriously and face ridicule. Quite frankly I wouldn't be surprised to learn that there are a lot more male victims than we think who simply haven't spoken out. This memorial is ALL about recognizing the suffering of all victims of sexual violence and creating a safe public space for victims.

Rapists are simply sociopaths

They have ability to discern right from wrong. They choose wrong and know it. Power? Anger? I call it BS. They are: self-centered, narcissitic, and psychopathic. They are Nothing other than that. No remorse matters. Bull!

This sort of creature gets pleasure from the agony of someone else. People don't understand what a sociopath is, but they have more around them than they ever dreamt of. Look up the prevalence. I bet everybody knows at least a dozen.
Oh women and children, Be strong. From a survivor of one of those sociopaths who had inflicted on me, 13 years of child rape.

Many experts contend that companies are most likely to be spending more
money in social media marketing. I was quoted R6000 ($857) for
a designer, to look at one of my websites and to make a couple of small changes.
Let's face it money potential is a sure fire way to arouse curiosity, and then if the website narrator has made wads of cash then many surfers searching for the ideal online business may become intrigued.

Today, I went to the beach front with my kids.
I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said
"You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She placed the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back!
LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to
tell someone!
