Alright, I have to call

Alright, I have to call bullshit on the "naughty" toddler costume. As much as I agree that a lot of pre-packaged Halloween costumes can be shitty, this costume is totally age appropriate and the word naughty does NOT exclusively mean "sexy". In fact, last time I checked toddlers AND kitties are both pretty naughty! ;)

naugh·ty (nôt)
adj. naugh·ti·er, naugh·ti·est
1. Behaving disobediently or mischievously: a naughty child.

don't you dare quote a

don't you dare quote a goddamn dictionary at us. This is a living language we're speaking and we all know that the word 'naughty' has sexual connotations. the marketers of the costume deliberately chose to invoke those sexual connotations irrespective of the actual design of the costume, if they had decided to avoid the 'sexy' angle and focused on cuteness and harmless disruptiveness they would have used 'mischievous' .

Waitwaitwait, are you for

Waitwaitwait, are you for real lauding the Modern Family win as the high point? Modern Family? The show about white washed queerness and safe, patriarchy respecting, family values?
Go home Bitch, you're drunk.

I wish there was a call-out button

On this comment. I am as concerned as KatSaysBark on white-washed queerness and patriarchal "family values" depicted on programs such as Modern Family, but calling out Bitch as "drunk" because some of us readers sometimes enjoy watching that show is completely unfair, and even to an extent, ignorant.

Always remember: Feminism is not a monolithic movement. Another thing: It helps to read the disclaimer regarding opinions expressed here are not all the same, and are not always in agreement with the editors, and especially other commenters.

Ok, so "Go home, you're

Ok, so "Go home, you're drunk." is a well known and oft used internet born idiom that says basically "I think you're super wrong. And I disagree vehemently with what you just said." Anyone who's studied even basic linguistics knows that language is regional. And this happens to be the internet. Not a college lecture hall or face to face public forum. So I'm using the language appropriate for the region. Because you are a person on the internet I'm pretty sure you know all of that. And according to your line of rhetoric, I'm not rude or ignorant. I'm totally in line.

Definitely not lauding the show

I've got no opinions on the show myself, I've never seen it. I just said it was an upset victory for the show at the Emmys, since it seems like people weren't expecting it to win.

I don't see how the author

I don't see how the author pointing out that Modern Family won some Emmys is lauding the show.
