Answers: "Dambisa Moyo is part of a generation of Africans who have studied modern economics and finance and pursued careers in developed economies. They know how the private sector works, and they have seen how millions of people have escaped poverty thanks to economic growth and the jobs it has created. From that perspective — and from a deep concern for her native Africa — Moyo, 40, has written Dead Aid, an indictment of the 'development industry' for creating destructive aid dependency in Africa."

Not surprising, and yet

Not surprising, and yet still disappointing.

Christine Lagarde

<p>They did manage to get <a href="http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1894410_18938... Lagarde</a>, first female Financial Minister of any G-8 nation in. Lagarde won me over on her recent <a href="http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=225155&amp;title=C... Show appearance</a>. She repeatedly talked about this current economic downturn being shared and the need to work together in order to end it. It probably didn't hurt that she had a great sense of humor and stage presence as well. Still, I felt a sense of comfort in hearing her talk. </p>

Thanks, Briar!

When the sound on my laptop is done being temperamental, I look forward to watching this clip. ;-)

I have an issue with even 1

I have an issue with even 1 drug lord being considered a influential person in this regard. I assume that most of the people listed are white males from wealthy countries. I actually need to look at this list myself.

though fuck yeah for Dambisa Moyo. We need more women like her worldwide, but especially in Africa.

Paul Wolfowitz

The article on her at Time begins "Dambisa Moyo, by Paul Wolfowitz."

NeoCons in the house!
