Who I Am:

I started out writing 'zines in highschool, and I'm so stoked to be in the pages of the Bitch! My work also appears in Crosscut, Literary Mama, hip mama, and various blogs. By day, I work as an urban planner. Find me online atsamanthaupdegrave.wordpress.com or on Twitter @scupdegrave.

What I'm Listening To:

This one song by Florence & The Machine. Fly Moon Royalty. Neko Case. The Head & The Heart. The Julie Ruin. And my son is crushed out on Feist, so a lot of I Feel it All and "the 1-2-3-4 song." Did I say Fly Moon Royalty? They're ruling my world right now.

What I'm Watching:

There's this awful cartoon playing in the background.... It's about a lizard and shit never goes his way.

What I'm Reading:

I'm writing a book! A memoir! Which basically means I'm reading a ton of memoirs. Here's a few that are in my stack: Rat Girl by Kristen Hersh, Ready for Air by Kate Hooper, and The End of Eve by Ariel Gore. Recently finished My Body is a Book of Rules by Elissa Washuta -- hell yes!

Poetry by Lucia Perillo, as well as old favorites Adrienne Rich, and Sharon Olds.

Nonfiction like Nick Hornby's Songbook, Studds Terkel's Working, and the debut by Sarah Alisabeth Fox, Downwind: A People's History of the Nuclear West.

And I'm reading the Wonderful Wizard of Oz to my 5-year old, chapter by chapter, at bedtime.
